Metal roof can come in two types. Exposed fasteners or hidden concealed fasteners. Metal roofs come in copper, galvanized steel or aluminum and many different profiles and colors. They are very popular replacement for shingle roofs for a reason. Their proven life expectancy of over 50 plus years is very impressive.

PRO: Life expectancy of over 50 years. Many colors and profiles. Can withstand more damage in wind and rain situation before failing. Great energy savings.

CONS: Exposed fasteners can cause more problems in the lifespan of roof compared to hidden concealed fasteners.  Cost typically higher than shingle. Noise from falling branches or hail is amplified rather than absorbed.
